Q: I lost my first aid certificate. How do I get a copy?

Please contact your local office for a reprint. Please note, however, there is an admin fee for reprinted certificates.

Q. I am applying for a job and the application states that I will need a First Aid Course. Which one should I take?

Check with the company you are applying to for more information. Most workplaces in B.C. will require you to have a Level 1 Workplace First Aid as this course is recognized by WorkSafe BC and meets provincial, territorial and federal requirements for first aid and CPR training in BC and across Canada.

Q: How long is the Occupation First Aid Ticket valid for?

All tickets are good for 3 years. See WCB Standard OFA1: Certification of Occupational First Aid Attendants for more information.

Q: How Many breaks do we get in the day?

You will have two 15-minute coffee breaks and one half hour for lunch. Participants are encouraged to bring food and use the facilities (fridge, microwave etc) in our lunchroom.

Q: What are the prerequisites for taking the Level 1 Occupational Health First Aid class?

You must be at least 16 years of age.

Q: How long is the course Level 1 Occupational Health First Aid?

This is an 8 hour program and class time is usually from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Q: What are the prerequisites for taking the Level 2 Occupational Health First Aid class?

You need to be at least 16 to take the course. Someone 16 years old but under 19, can hold a certificate but their certificate will not be recognized by the WorkSafeBC board as qualifying them to work as a designated attendant in the workplace. They can provide first aid, but only under the supervision of another designated first aid attendant.

Q: How long is the course Level 2 Occupational Health First Aid?

This is a 1 week – 35 hour course. We offer it part time as well for 3 weeks.

Q: How long is the Level 2 ticket good for?

All WorkSafeBC Occupational First Aid tickets are good for 3 years.

Q: Do I need to see a doctor prior to taking the course?

No, that requirement has been changed. You will need to complete a Student Statement of Fitness form when you fill out your registration. If you answer “yes” to any of the medical questions, you will need to see a doctor to get a “Medical Certificate of Fitness” report filled out. There is usually a cost associated with this report.

Q: When do you hold the exams for Level 2?

Exams are usually scheduled for the Monday after the last day of class. On occasion, we may hold the exams on the Sunday after class. The exact date will be determined once the class is in progress.

Q: My OFA Level 2 ticket just expired. Can I take a refresher course?

No, WorkSafeBC does not offer a refresher course for Level 2. You will need to take the entire Level 2 class again.

Q: What are the prerequisites for taking the Level 3 Occupational Health First Aid class?

You need to be at least 16 to take the course. This is a 2 week – 70 hour course which runs Monday to Friday. Class times are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We also offer this course part time 70 hours over 5 weeks Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays.

Q: When do you hold the exams for Level 2?

Exams are usually scheduled for the Monday after the last day of class. On occasion, we may hold the exams on the Sunday after the last Friday class. The exact date will be determined once the class is in progress.

Q: I have an OFA Level 3 ticket that has expired over a year ago, do I have to take the full course over?

According to WorkSafeBC, if less than 2 years has elapsed since the expiry of the certificate, you qualify to take the exam and the refresher course.

Q: How long is the OFA Level 3 refresher course?

It is a 1 week – 35 hour course which runs from Monday through Friday. The exams are usually scheduled for the Monday following the last day of class.

Q: What is the prerequisite to taking the Babysitting course?

You need to be a minimum of 10 years old.
